Jose Casillas had three goals and Sean Sackrider added two goals and two assists to lead City/Mesa into sole possession of first place in the league standings. Brian Hamlin had a goal and two assists and Omid Arjomand scored once for the winners. SDSU, which had its two-game winning streak snapped, received two goals from Frank Battistone in the loss.
Grossmont 8, Southwestern 7
Goaltender Tommy Prewitt made three acrobatic stops, including one with four seconds to play that stopped the puck an inch from crossing the goal line, to lead Grossmont into sole possession of second place in the league standings. Vito Vaiasuso was credited with three goals for Grossmont.

Vince Rappelyea had two goals and two assists and Jack Shirey scored twice to lead Southwestern past SDSU. Manny Buenrostro and Erick Syktich each added one goal and one assist. Ryan Killilea scored SDSU's lone goal.
San Diego City/Mesa 5, Point Loma Nazarene 2
Bill Bond scored the jump-goal for the conference leaders, who got goals from three other players in overcoming an early 2-1 PLNU lead. The game was tied 2-2 at halftime before City/Mesa shut the door on the conference's drastically-improved cellar-dwellers with three second-half goals. "Big difference," said PLNU's Jordan Armitage about the team's turnaround. "It's taken four or five games to get the hang of each other. We also have a lot more players now."
PLNU got its early lead on goals by Jake Gilbertson and Andrew Glendinning while goalie Beau Mora sparkled between the pipes despite allowing five goals.
PLNU's renewed vigor was evidenced in last week's 9-5 exhibition game win against the touring USMC Marine team. Nathan Sutton had four goals against the Marines.

Nathan Sutton scored three goals and Jake Gilbertson scored twice to lead PLNU, which also received single goals from Cody Ziller and Garrett Mitchell as well as outstanding goaltending by Beau Mora.
