Vista 14, San Diego Jewish Academy 1
Lukas Smith had five goals and one assist while Devin Holcomb had four goals and
one assist to lead the Panthers, who broke a 1-1 tie with 13 unanswered goals.
Kona Blancia added two goals for Vista (2-0-0) while Andrew Peattie recorded one
goal and five assists. Manny Alvaro had one goal and three assists while Andy
D’mento contributed one goal and two assists. Johnny Simkin scored SDJA’s lone
goal, temporarily tying the game at a goal apiece early in the opening period.
Rancho Bernardo 18, La Jolla Country Day 0
Rory Hansen roared loudest on the court with five goals and two assists for the
Broncos, who scored six goals in each period to record the shutout victory.
Tarem Tayem and Kyle Ahrensberg each had four goals in the game for Rancho
Bernardo. Tayem also had an assist in the game for five points. Mike Taylor had
one goal and four assists while Justin Michitsch had two goals and three assists
and Corey Grahl contributed two goals and two assists. Matt Shafer had two
assists while Ryan Dault and John Pace each picked up one assist.
Poway 3, Scripps Ranch 2
Stephen Lockwood scored his second goal of the game with 32 seconds to play in
regulation time to give the Titans the victory and keep the defending Kiwanis
Cup champion Falcons winless in two games to start the season. Scripps Ranch
(0-1-1) had tied the game at a pair of goals apiece when Matt Comrie tallied
with 4:51 left in the final period and teammate Andrew Woodfine followed with a
goal with 2:24 to go. Andrew Reinhold drew the assist on Comrie’s tally to make
a dent in a 2-0 Poway lead while Josh Lopez set up Woodfine’s tying goal. The
Titans (1-1-0) made a 1-0 lead stand up through the opening two periods on
Lockwood’s tally with 10:57 to play in the first period. Brent Ozaki, who
assisted on the game opening goal, scored Poway’s second goal just 1:21 into the
final period, unassisted. Kevin Ingram assisted on Lockwood’s game-winning goal.
Westview 16, La Jolla 0
The Wolverines remained undefeated at 1-0-1 after grounding the Vikings (0-2-0).
Anthony Sansone paced Westview with four goals and one assist while Jason Diehl
had three goals and one assist. The Wolverines had eight players score in the
game. Mark Baker, Dan Luczak and Leo Scheiler each had two goals and one assist.
Matt Durschlag contributed three assists.
