2005 Grossmont Conference Finals
East County track champions crowned, CIF on deck
By Phillip Brents
Posted May 17, 2005
What is that phrase? Faster, stronger, farther? The Grossmont Conference put it
both literally and figuratively on display at its annual track and field
championship meet May 13 at West Hills High School.
For a collection of elite athletes, the meet was the first step in the three
week qualification process to determine who would step onto the track or into
the ring at the state championship meet June 3-4 in Sacramento. The top two
qualifiers in both the Grossmont North League and Grossmont South League finals,
plus those who met predetermined qualifying standards, earned the right to
advance to Saturday’s San Diego Section prelims at Mt. Carmel High School.
For others, last Friday’s meet simply served as one for bragging rights. In any
case, the envelope please ...
